RYLA Service---To start Linda’s year…..our club is serving breakfast, Thursday, July 2 at 7:15AM at Twin Lakes Family YMCA, 1902 S Bell Blvd (or 204 E Little Elm Trail per Google), Cedar Park. We have six slots for breakfast and have two filled. All volunteers will need to fill out a form for background checks AND take the 30 minute online “Protecting Youth Program Participants” course. All club members are encouraged to take the course, it’s good to have. More volunteers are needed.
FUNDRAISER---Last month’s board meeting…created a plan for a fundraiser AND to announce the Club Swag store. We have a committee!…now onto work. Good planning=good results!
- ROTARY ROCKSTARS---It’s official! ….South Austin Rotary was one of 8 (out of 58) District Clubs that completed the Rotary Rockstar Challenge!! Thank you Pam Blankenzee for making sure the South Austin pictures, stories, service projects all got told and loaded onto all our Public Image mediums!
- FOUNDATION GIVING GOAL—The good news is our Club has exceeded our goal for the Polio Plus Fund. Our Goal is $4,000 and we are up to $5,006!!!….good job kids! Now as to the Annual Fund –we are just shy of our $15,000 goal. We only need $1,200. Easy! If you have not made your annual contribution as a sustaining member or if you are going to make a bigger gift, please do so before the first week of June….to make sure that it gets counted this year. You can either contribute online or give Jim McComb a check and he’ll get it to RI. Thank you so much for your generosity!
- Linda Boxberger and Lisa Killough attended the Ethics in Business/Recognize Good luncheon last week…as the guest of the Recognize Good folks—that awarded our club $1,000 several months ago---for service we do in our community. The cool part of this event was that the Rotary Club of Austin last year partnered with Recognize Good and were part of the judges for the winners. At the event ….they had a huge step & repeat banner in the reception area; Linda & I got our pics. Their president Cindy Brummer gave a wonderful speech and invoked the 4 way test which is truly a standard for Ethics in Business
