South Austin Rotary Club along with the Austin Westlake Rotary Club worked at the Central Texas Food Bank today making up ten pound bags of fresh vegetables...carrots, sweet potatoes and russet potatoes to help feed our neighbors. In addition to helping provide over 3,000 meals to those in need, a good time was had by all!
They met Lynn, a food bank volunteer, who over fifty years ago attended university in Scotland on a Rotary Fellowship. Lynn told us that has never forgotten what an opportunity and experience it was for him and is grateful for Rotarians to this day. They also met Matthew who was working on a nutrition degree with the University of Arizona to become a dietitian and was impressed with how many Rotarians were volunteering at the food bank. And Elaine, a delightful Texas A&M student who had lots of questions about Rotary. We enjoyed pizza together after working the three hour shift!
