Sherrick West is proud to serve as the District Executive for the Thunderbird District, supporting Scouting programs throughout South and East Austin. He is originally from a small town in Virginia, but began his Scouting career in North Carolina before relocating to Texas in 2024 and becoming a Scouting professional.
The Thunderbird District is part of the Capitol Area Council of Scouting America which serves over 9,000 youth in Scouting programs. Youth need structure, mentors, and adventure to aid in their development as good people and citizens. Their programs are designed to build confidence, resilience and promote teamwork. The leaders of tomorrow are Scouts today!
Currently there are 9 Cub Scout Packs (K-5th grade), ten Scouts BSA Troops (6th grade – 12th grade) and two Crews (Age 14020) in the Thunderbird District. Last fall 225 youth joined the program and each year the Thunderbird District produces an average of 35 Eagle Scouts. They are always looking to grow their district committee, volunteers team and recruit more youth.
The South Austin Rotary Club can partner with Scouting by inviting local Scout units to participate in volunteer work alongside us or support their initiatives with our time, financial aid and expertise. The program is run by volunteers and they can always use more talented people that are willing to share their skills and expertise.
Sherrick enjoys working alongside dedicated volunteers, community partners, and families to help grow Scouting opportunities for youth across the district.
