Aldo Rios was inducted into the South Austin Rotary Club by President Lisa Killough. His sponsor, Shirley Diepenbrock, pinned a Rotary pin on his shirt.
Classification talk – Aldo was born in Brownsville TX and could see the border wall from his school. He went to school in Mexico until he was eight years old. After his parents divorced he moved with his mother and brother to the United States and started fourth grade here, no knowing any English. By the time he graduated high school his primary language was English.
He had a professor, Mrs. Schmidt, who helped guide him into a profession of accounting and a life of service. He developed a passion for volunteering and helping others. After graduation he worked in an accounting firm and the hours were long. Last year his best friend, Gerardo Garcia. passed away and it caused him to reevaluate his life. He decided to quit his job and start his own business doing accounting and consulting mainly for non-profit organizations. He likes the fact that it allows him to help people, just like Mrs. Schmidt helped him.
