World Polio Day is a time for Rotary members, public health advocates, and all who want a world free from polio to come together, recognize our progress in the fight to end polio, and talk about the actions we need to take in order to end polio for good. All donations are matched 2:1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, tripling your impact!
Please join us on Thursday, October 24 (World Polio Day) for Pints for Polio at DK Maria’s at 5:00pm. This is a joint project with our club, Rotary Club of Austin Southwest and Rotary Club of Austin Westlake. DK Maria’s will donate $1 to PolioPlus for every drink ordered. The Diaper Drive (and other paper products—wipes, toilet paper, paper towels) for Manchaca UMC Food Pantry will be through October. You may bring your donation to a meeting; Simon Garza has offered to collect items and deliver them to the church. Items will also be collected at the Pints for Polio event at DK Maria’s
Doug shared the story of how Rotary go the idea of the Magic of Rotary message. Urchick,our Rotary President a member of the Rotary Club of McMurray, Pennsylvania, USA, said she saw the magic of Rotary on display when she was helping install water filters in the Dominican Republic.

Rotary is committing US$500,000 to bolster the initiative, channeling these funds through a dedicated Polio Outbreak Response Fund. This contribution represents Rotary's sustained support to the World Health Organization in combating polio globally.
