Since its inception, El Buen has been at the forefront of responding to the many social-environmental factors leading to lack of access to health care, social services, education, and nutrition. Over time, El Buen has adapted to meet the community needs that come with population growth, immigration, and economic fluctuations.

This adaptation to change has led to our comprehensive strategy of becoming a “one stop shop” to address the needs of the Latino and Spanish-speaking community in Travis County and surrounding areas. Through our Family and Health Literacy programming, El Buen provides education (ESL, Digital Literacy, Adult Basic Education and High School Equivalency in Spanish), workforce development, child and adolescent development (parenting and school-readiness, after school tutoring, and summer camp), health literacy (access to health services, chronic disease management classes and screenings), a year-round, no-cost food pantry, and a community garden where clients can grow their own healthy food. These services are provided by bilingual bicultural staff that includes community health workers (CHWs), volunteers, and health and social services practitioners

The Andy Roddick Foundation, a Texas-based nonprofit working to take the time children spend outside the classroom and turn it into real opportunities.

Jaime L. Garcia is the President and Chief Executive Officer at the Andy Roddick Foundation and previous Executive Director for Extend-A-Care (EAC) YMCA of the YMCA of Austin. She has worked in afterschool with EAC for over 25 years. Experience in overseeing over 100+ Afterschool locations and summer programs including infant/preschool programs, and 550 employees. She is certified by the state of Texas as a director of licensed childcare centers. She currently serves on the board of the Texas Partnership for Out of School Time (TXPOST) and served on the advisory council for YUSA’s Character Development Learning Institute, as well as Committee For Children’s SEL Out of School Project Advisory Leadership Council. She served for six years on the National Afterschool Association (NAA)’s board of directors and a graduate of Leadership Austin Class of 2017.

Jaime holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and MBA from Texas State University. Her hometown is Houston, Texas, and she resides in Austin with her husband and two children. She believes every child deserves a high-quality learning experience outside of school hours no matter their zip code.

Shelly O'Donnel from Teacher Reuse.org. Ms. O'Donnel is a A retired teacher who has founded the Teacher Reuse nonprofit to help mitigate out-of-pocket costs for teachers throughout Central Texas.

We have been supporting Galindo School for some time now and we will be presenting a check from our Queen of Hearts Raffle to them.

We partner with communities in rural Nicaragua to build new schools, create community water systems, and improve sanitation.

In rural Nicaragua, 1.8 million people live without access to safe water and 1.6 million do not have access to even basic sanitation facilities. Project Schoolhouse works with communities that have identified both the problems they want to solve and the solutions to fix them. Our purpose is to facilitate projects that have real grassroots support and local buy-in that result in sustainable progress. By tackling education, water, and sanitation issues simultaneously we help communities achieve more complete solutions to complex problems.

Gregg is an attorney and an Austin Rotarian.   He has served on the One Good Turn board since its inception in 2020 and has decades of experience as an attorney in the non- and for-profit health care industry. His long-term work with One Good Turn has helped to shape our organization's mission and development.

HeartGift provides life-saving heart surgeries to children around the world with congenital heart defects in the United States, Asia, Africa, and South America.

The children we serve need just one surgery but it’s not available where they live.
