Whitney Meyers - Sacred Stories

Whitney Meyers - Sacred Stories

Nov. 13, 2024

I have always been fascinated by people’s life journeys. I find inspiration in the courage it takes to share our stories, and I am drawn to the moments when history becomes personal and the universal connections within our human family are revealed. I started “Sacred Stories” to record people’s life stories on film.  The mission is simple: to provide you & your family with a legacy film production, to document for a wider audience the wisdom of our time, and to do my part to create a culture of listening.  I’m excited about this work because I believe that every life is a story worth sharing & there is no time like the present.

Through advocacy and support, people of short stature have made significant milestones in areas of employment and inclusion, but there's more work to do. Come hear stories and learn about ways to support this community.

Bowling!!!
Jan. 29, 2025 5:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Back by popular demand we will be going bowling on Wednesday, January 29 at Westgate Lanes! I have not had the opportunity to bowl with my fellow Rotarians so I'm looking forward to it!  If bowling isn't your thing, come and enjoy fellowship with the rest of us.  Cheering and good natured heckling are welcome!

We will meet at Westgate Lanes, 2701 W. William Cannon Drive, at 5:30pm. Let me know if you plan to join us so I know how many lanes to request.  There may be a slight wait depending on how busy they are so be prepared for that.

See you then!

Harrison Eppright - History of Austin

Mar. 19, 2025 12:00 p.m.

Austin changes so rapidly that it feels like every time you blink, a piece of its history slips away. Fortunately, we have Harrison Eppright. He's been soaking up history for six decades – the time he's lived through, but earlier times as well – and he's always eager to share it. The Victory Grill, Downs Field and the Negro Leagues, the city's “1928 Master Plan,” Juneteenth in Austin, Evergreen Cemetery – he knows all about them and more. As Visit Austin's manager of visitor services and tour ambassador, and tour docent for Six Square: Austin's Black Cultural District, Eppright is well-positioned to ensure we remember the Austin that was.
