The South Austin Rotary Club recently completed a meaningful hands-on service project at Adventurers Academy of Lifelong Learning, making a lasting impact for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
On April 15, Rotary members gathered at the Academy to install shelving in four closets and transform the organization of the facility’s pantry. What may seem like a simple upgrade will significantly enhance the day-to-day experience for participants and staff alike. View the photos.
Adventurers Academy of Lifelong Learning is dedicated to helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities build independence and engage more fully with their community through social, educational, recreational, and vocational programs. With improved storage and organization, the Academy can now operate more efficiently—creating a more structured and supportive environment for those they serve.
This project was inspired after the organization shared its mission with the Rotary Club earlier this year. Moved by their work, members quickly stepped in to meet a tangible need.
“This was a great opportunity to take action and support an organization doing incredible work in our community,” said a South Austin Rotary Club member. “Projects like this show how even small improvements can make a big difference.”
