The guest speaker is Dr. Jeanne Cox, the originator and chair of the Field of Honor in Georgetown, the 9-day event in San Gabriel Park. The mission of Field of Honor is four-fold. One: to honor and benefit past and present military, first responders, and their families. Two: to inspire patriotism and pride in our country and flag. Three: to educate youth that visit during school field trips and those that attend the event. Four: to unify our communities in peacefully and respectfully honoring our flag, our country, and those who defend us.
This year is a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Field of Honor in Georgetown, the 250th birthday of the USA, and the 25th remembrance of 9/11. To honor America, 2,026 flags will be laid out to display the number 250. The flags are purchased by community members to salute a veteran or first responder. This year there will be dedicated flags to heroes who paid the ultimate price in Iran. The Towers to Tunnel mobile exhibit will be on site. Tours are provided by firefighters and first responders from NYPD who on site that day.
There are activities everyday so check out the website www.georgetownTXfieldofhonor.org and plan to visit!
