Young people today think that the first time we had to stay in our houses was Covid, but in fact it was Polio.   Our theme this year is PPE, Passion Polio Engagement.  DG Todd’s theme this year is Engage with Passion – remember, he traveled to India to help vaccinate children from Polio.
Facts:  Polio most often affects children under the age of 5.  There’s no cure, but it’s preventable with a vaccine.  Some people live with it, others die.  Robert Redford had polio, Jack Nicholas has polio.  Two countries have active cases – Afghanistan & Pakistan.  We’ve reduced cases by 99.9% since 1988.  Until we end polio forever, every child is at risk.

Last year our district raised $113,560 and our club raised $4,053 which is $423/per member.  Lisa has set a goal of $4000 for our club to raise for Polio Plus this year. The PolioPlus Society means you give $100 every year.

Rotary Actin Plan:  Priority #1  Increase our Impact (raise more money) #2, Expand our Reach Awareness – Monthly Newsletter and have Club Polio Chairs #3, Enhance Participant Engagement:  District Incentives  #4  Increase our Ability to Adapt

World Polio Day is Oct 24th every year, last year we raised $600-700 at our Pints/Pies for Polio event, what will we do this year?  We are planning another Pie Auction:  Pies for Polio and Pints for Polio event in November.
