Announcements - Oct. 1
  • Happy October Birthday to:  Ann Graham - Oct 2       Remember Stan Cravat as he battles cancer and for Ann Graham as she is his caregiver
  • TerraClear Christmas Cards – the club is sponsoring Dawn’s Christmas Card project again this year.  The cards have the sponsorship of South Austin Rotary language on the back and a photo of the water filter on the front.  Give the gift of clean water that saves lives this Christmas.   
  • WORLD POLIO DAY is October 24th Let’s make Polio the second disease to be eradicated worldwide!  Mickie Powers is our PolioPlus Chair and is planning a Pints and Pies Auction for November.

DAP Grant:   Room of Requirement---repairing and refurbishing a 10x12 shed at Sunset Valley Elementary.     Friday, Oct 10th and Saturday Oct 11th (maybe Oct 12 or 13 if needed).    We need many hands. Finish out the inside with plywood, paint & stain.  Start around 9:00-5:00 for a good full day on Friday.  Send a message to Lisa if you can help. 
 
Common Ground ATX needs donations….facility is expanding by 170 rooms and needs:  twin beds (& linens), dressers, small desks, work tables, mini-frigs, 32” TVs.  Contact Mickie Powers.
 
Classification Talk - Allison Batlin
Twenty years ago, while seeking funding for a non-profit in the South Pacific, she came and spoke to South Austin Rotary Club. It was a different club then, with a 60 plus membership, and women were still new to Rotary.  She had found a club that would be made up of my best friends. Since then, this amazing group has supported each other in the happiest times as well as times of terrible loss. Always there to support, offering a hand to members in need.

Young people today think that the first time we had to stay in our houses was Covid, but in fact it was Polio.   Our theme this year is PPE, Passion Polio Engagement.  DG Todd’s theme this year is Engage with Passion – remember, he traveled to India to help vaccinate children from Polio.

Earl Curry Sunshine Fund
David Jessich – planning to go to New Braunfels Wurstfest and there are two Rotary clubs who will be participating.  Also, he is selling raffle tickets for a 2026 Jeep Wrangler or 2026 GMC Sierra Truck.  Tickets are $100 and the drawing is Nov 7th.  The Westlake Club funds scholarships with this fundraiser.
