Volunteering at RYLA Camp

Serving Breakfast at RYLA on July 2—five SARC members got up at the crack of dawn to serve breakfast to about 75 campers.  It was great to see the kids 1) doing calisthenics at 7am! and 2) jamming to the music.   Although some looked very tired from a possible late night before.   The best thing was the polite manners these kids portrayed.   Thank you to Amber, Allison, Sherrick, Linda and Lisa for your service!

Club Fundraiser

The Fundraising committee has been planning a great event on Saturday, October 3.  But before then….raffle tickets will be available to sell on/about August 1.  This is our only fundraiser this year, and we need every member to participate in ticket sales.  This Beach Party event introducing the Club Swag Store will have all sorts of fun: mocktails, snacks, runway models, dancing, Swag stuff and more!   There will also be volunteer opportunities (needs!) for the October 3 event.  So, please SAVE THE DATE!

Speaker - Casey Watson

Casey Watson is a  Relationship Steward at Mobile Loaves and Fishes, and with Community First! Village,  both are Christian social outreach ministries in Austin that have been empowering communities into a lifestyle of service with the homeless since 1998.

With the support of tens of thousands of volunteers, Community First! Village (CFV) is (now) a  100 acre master-planned community providing permanent housing and a supportive community for people coming out of chronic homelessness while Mobile Loaves and Fishes serves “Goodness”: providing food and clothing, cultivating community, and promoting dignity to our homeless brothers and sisters in need.

  • Amber was so glad she rode to RYLA (which was loads of fun!) with Allison because Allison planned and booked her Baltic cruise trip while on the road to RYLA

  • Patty Hoyt had a great month in California visiting friends.  And she even visited her prior Rotary Club … of San Ramon

  • Ann is hosting a Rotary Exchange student this coming fall semester; a young lady from Japan who will be attending Bowie HS.    Ann also needs help with some house interior decorating, and who knew Omar Webb was good at this… Ann said you’re hired!
