DAP Grant: Is coming along….Jim and I met with the Girl Scout troop leader and PTA sponsor Saturday at the site of the shed to be refurbished to a Room of Requirement for economically disadvantage families---about 1/3 of Sunset Valley Elem population
a. The project is for the repair/finish-out of a shed—includes plywood on walls and ceiling, painting, installing solar fan/lighting, adding insulation, adding decomposed granite around the shed and many other fixes. We’ll need many hands-on helpers (besides the Girl Scouts). Estimated work days will start mid-September……One of the DAP requirements is the active participation of Club Members. Please consider assisting us.
b. District grant is $1240; with a club match of $1,260 for a total estimated cost of $2500.
District Governor, Todd Smith led the induction of Sherrick West. He noted that he and Sherrick were both from Virginia and are Kappa Sigma Fraternity brothers and they shared their secret handshake with each other! Sherrick received a membership certificate and new member packet. Welcome Sherrick!
Our Call to Action is to “Unite For Good”. We come to Rotary meetings and events leaving things behind in the car so we can focus on coming together with our Rotary family to serve others. DG Todd’s theme for his year is “Engage with Passion”.
