Good Resolutions – What made you feel good in 2024?
  • President Shirley quoted several ways for  “How to Future-Proof Your Happiness in the New Year”.  She then asked what members did last year that made them happy and that they’d repeat in the new year:
    • Shirley—enjoying Early Act First Knight
    • Simon Garza—attending Andrew Boccelli concert
    • Lisa Killough—having experiential events such as concerts with neighbors
    • Steve Ross—Asking someone to Rotary.  He sold his car recently and has asked the salesman to Rotary

  • John McConnell, a guest looking to join a Rotary Club.  He is a business litigation attorney and lives in Shady Hollow.   He is an Austinite and his New Year’s Resolution it to find a way to have more community service.  Welcome John!
  • Tiara is Steve Ross’ caregiver that gets him to Rotary.  Thank you Tiara!
Upcoming Service Projects
  • Dayne Cannon is setting up a work time at the Central Texas Food Bank in April or May.   He’ll send an email for days/times.
  • Simon Garza is planning a workday for organizing Mickie’s non-profit clothes closet in March or April.   Again, an  email will be sent for details.
  • The Austin-Southwest Club meeting tomorrow will have the Austin Reuse/Recycle representative to discuss recycling.
Chandler Lawn - Classification Talk
Rotarian, Student, Musician, Teacher, Law Student—and an amazing young person!
 
Chandler is from Houston and always wanted to be a musician.  She sings and writes music.   She recorded her first album at 13 yrs old and had an opportunity to attend the Grammy’s at 17 with her second album.

  • Allison Batlin was so glad to Steve Ross join our meeting today
  • Patti Hoyt and her husband had a great holiday—visiting family in California and in Kansas.  The best news/gift was her daughter who has one child and was one/and/done!….announced she was pregnant!  Best surprise Christmas present!
  • Lisa Killough had a great trip to Graceland in December….and today is Elvis’ 90th birthday!
Raffle - Galindo Elementary
Jenny Turney won the opportunity to draw for the Queen of Hearts, but no luck!   She drew the 10!   Jim McComb announced the pot was up to $1,175!!
