August Member Spotlight is Patty Hoyt! South Austin Rotary is all about service, community and family! Meet Patty: My husband, Jim, and I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area of California for 40 years. Upon retirement in 2021, we hopped in our pickup truck and took off on a road trip that would take us through thirty states! It was a wonderful adventure, one we hope to continue and visit the remaining 20 states.
On Wednesday, July 30th, four amazing South Austin Rotarians rolled up their sleeves to give a special room a magical makeover! Satch Nanda, Allison Batlin, Lisa Killough, and Shirley Diepenbrock spent the afternoon decorating and tidying up to get everything ready for an upcoming EarlyAct FirstKnight knighting ceremony.
Dawn Lewis is on a road trip to visit family and in doing so is making 8 or 9 Terra Clear Foundation presentations to Rotary Clubs from Alabama to New York. She is representing our club as well as the Terra Clear Foundation.
Our speaker was Yesenia Ramos, Community Engagement Manager at Central Health. Central Health is a property tax funded health care system in Travis County. It was created in 2004 to take over city and county owned clinics to provide healthcare to low-income residents. Under the Central Health umbrella is CommUnityCare, created to manage and operate the clinics and Sendero Health Plan, a nonprofit health insurer.
Patty shared that her nearly 8 week absence was filled with time in West Texas to help her sister followed by a trip to California where she and her husband waited on the arrival of their third grandchild. In addition to welcoming a baby boy they went to a college graduation celebration, visited old friends and attended a wedding in Southern California. Her son and his family were also at the wedding, so she was able to see the first born grandson!
